I had it with my son and had to be on insulin. I was put on Lantus and with that you only have to take it once a day, usually at night before you go to bed. It is done with what is called an OptiClik insulin pen instead of a syringe. It is not that bad and they will show you how to do it. You do it in your stomach, thigh, and in your arm. You have to rotate sites each time you take it. I found the one in the stomach hurt less becuase you first pinch an inch and then inject and you really don't feel it. The ones in my arm and thigh were harder because I didn't have much fat to pinch there. My husband usually had to help me with the arm one. You will be fine.

I don't have gestational diabetes but my experience with shots is not that bad, they only hurt for a quick second. Not bad at all, but I'm sorry to here that you have diabetes.

My grandmother takes shots, and I guess they don't hurt because she never complains. I guess once you get used to it the pain decreases. You're probably more nervous about having gestational diabetes than giving yourself the shot. Take care and I hope everything works out.

my mom has had that, and she delt with it preety well; although I honestly don't remember her getting shots. I know she had to prick her finger to test her levels and had a very strange diet, but very rarely did she have to give herself insulin. I would talk to your doctor about other wasy of maintaining this, also consider getting an attatchable pump which tests your levels and gives you insulin and you only have to prick yourself once, when you attach it. Good luck and I hope the pregnancy is a success
