LOOK, it's a METAPHOR, I mean isn't it true that the press can take anything, any situation and spin it however they like, for this METAPHOR say someone blows themself up. It's the media really who report what happened, and if they say oh it was suicide, or oh he is a martyr, that becomes, basically the official story. We are forced to follow the media like sheep, everything is fed to us and we are asked to shut up and accept it without question

This is actually a rather interesting and thought provoking point. In a discussion of "Samson Agonistes", a professor once pointed out to us that depending on who's perspective you take, Samson couldl either be a terrorist and a old school 'suicide bomber' or he could be a national hero and a martyr.

While there is definitly a lot of truth in your suggestion, the one fundamental difference I would point out is that martyrs are generally (but not always) killed by other people, while suicides always kill themselves.

Martyrdom is the misguided theory that murdering harmless civilians for a spiritual reason is by some potential noble and earns a 'reward' in 'Heaven'. Suicide assaults are the certainty. homicide undeniable and straightforward.

Martydom is only recognized if the cause survives. I am mad that muslims call themselves martyrs because the word was first used for christians who refused to deny their faith so the romans killed them. Christianity survived. I think that u can;t base what the news tell u as good anymore because the news are conpanies and they will do what they can to make money.

Becoming a martyr, in the eyes of persons with shared beliefs is something that is done to you ( your death) because of your beliefs.
Suicide is something that you do to yourself - regardless of the reason.
