I am dredding this Christmas for so many reasons. Mainly, I am not real religious anymore and can't seem to get religious, so it holds no real meaning to me. Secondly, the materialism of Christmas makes me sorta sick, and the pressure of family gift exchanges really bug me. I don't want gifts and I surely don't want to buy a gift for someone that I never would usually buy for. The biggest reason I think I am dredding the holiday is we have to drive 4 hours out of town a day or so before to be with family, which is fine, but we never get to have Christmas in our home. My little boy never gets to wake up in his own house and run out to the living room to see what Santa has brought him. I guess I shouldn't complain because he has a great family that wants to share Christmas with him but still, traveling there is a lot of work, and if we don't go, we would never hear the end of it.
So there ya go, I can relate. Heck, I've even considered converting to Judaism just so I wouldn't have to celebrate anymore, is that sick or what?....Merry Christmas by the way! ; )

I love x-mas, and in a way i am not fond of the new year because I have to try to remember to start at one and change the last digit of the year.
. I don't know what your circumstances are but I am sure that next year will be better. If you do decide to decorate and still don't feel in the holiday spirit nobody is going to hold it against you but try this to see if it will help your spirits, go to a homeless shelter or a retirement home and see the people there, most of the elderly may have a worse holiday than you because their families can't be bothered with them at the most family oriented time of the year.
Hope you and yours have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS

Trust me on this one...you should decorate and do it all anyway because you might get the bug a little late this year and regret that you didn't get it together in time! Also, maybe getting it all started will help you get in the spirit, play some new christmas songs you're not familiar with, buy a new cd like Ella Fitzgerald's christmas collection and drink some coffee with eggnog in it....relax! If you don't want to go all out, at least put up some frills :)

No I decided that this year would be the tops. I am usually the bah humbug one. Special reason for the turn around. Husband has Alkzheimer, all the kids and grandkids will come for a hefty meal and laughter. We know he will not know all this by Dec 26th but we will all do a lot for him to remember while we are doing the celebration.
We are lucky because we know what can happen this year with our dear , most of us have no idea what 2007 will bring. So ....
cheer up pretend this could be the last Christmas and how would you celebrate it.

You know I do kind of feel this way. It is mostly because my family has been so broke. My husband and I are working, but it feels like we are not earning enough. We barely have enough for Christmas for our kids. But you know what....we are all fed...every one is going to have some thing under the (fake) tree. I would highly recommend that you do get out there and do some decorating...especially if you have kids. They are only young once. Really, get yourself and get some of your deco and do it. I did and I am telling you that it did make some difference. It will not fix everything but it will help your spirit. Think of it as sending this year out with a bang!!! It is almost over.

Join the club. Since the ACLU and political corrects deprived us of reverence and people are buying, spending, pushing, shoving and you don't even get a Merry Christmas.
Christmas is a sad time for me because my family is scattered all over and people are scurrying around trying to fit everything in.
Lots of dreams unfulfilled surface at this time because how we envisioned our retirement years are just not what we expected.
I did all the buying, wrapping, shipping, decorating and of course, went in debt but it is the last year I intend to do this. Everyone will get a check and I will bathe myself in the love of Christ.
I thank you for your honesty and sincerely hope that 2007 will look up for you and all your problems will subside of be resolved.
MERRY CHRISTMAS anyway.

I LOVE Christmas, but I hate New Years. It feels like everything has to start from the beginning again, I hate that.

There are always some people who dont want to partake in the spirit of the season. You arent alone!
Best thing: go out and try to have some fun anyway. You will feel much better! It is such a fun time of the year....

I try to focus on the meaning, not the trappings that society has tacked on over the years. God reaching down to us in love is comforting enough.
Merry Christmas
