My family is going to Disney in about a month. Were staying in the Port Orleans Riverside hotel. How is the Riverside hotel if you have ever stayed there. Also if you have stayed in another hotel in Disney and liked it, what was it?

I stayed at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside back in 1997 when it was known as the Dixie Landings Resort. The Resort itself really didn't change much, mainly just the name. It's a pretty nice Resort. It's probably the best out of Disney's Moderate Resorts. I recall the walkways to the different buildings being somewhat confusing. I really liked the Resort's pool, though. And every morning we had breakfast at the Riverside Mill Food Court. I'd get a cinnamon roll and we'd sit near the water wheel. It was very enjoyable, and one of the few parts of my vacation that year that I really remember because I was a bit young. The gift shop was a short was down the hall from the restaurant, so while the adults were finishing up us kids would run down to the gift shop and look around. I remember the rooms were small and boring, though. But I'm sure there's been a renovation since the Resort's name-change. It didn't bother me then because I was younger and didn't really care, but now that I'm older I like to stay at Disney's Deluxe Resorts. The past couple years my boyfriend and I have stayed at Disney's Polynesian Resort. We love it there so much! We will never stay at another Disney Resort. In fact, Disney's Polynesian Resort has the highest return rate of any of the Disney Resorts. The Resort is just so gorgeous. The rooms are spacious and recently renovated, and some have incredible views of Cinderella Castle and the Magic Kingdom over the Seven Seas Lagoon. At night you can watch the fireworks and the Electrical Water Pageant right from the room. There's so many reasons why I prefer Disney's Polynesian Resort over any other. There's four different dining options right on property, there's two magnificent pools, the staff is outstanding, etc. One of the best things about this Resort, though, is the transportation. This Resort has numerous forms of transportation which is very helpful in getting to and from all the different destinations on property. First, there's the Monorail that comes right to the lobby of the Resort. There's a boat launch to the Magic Kingdom, and, of course, the shuttle buses that lead to any of the destinations. But there's also a walkway to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, so you can take a short stroll to get a massage or have a romantic dinner at Victoria & Albert's, and then there's the walkway to the Transportation & Ticket Center, where you can board the other Monorail to EPCOT. I love Disney's Polynesian Resort, and if you could afford to stay there, I'd definitely recommend it. But Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside is lovely and I'm sure you won't be disappointed with it. If you get a chance just visit Disney's Polynesian Resort for dinner at the Kona Cafe, or maybe see the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show.

Hope I could help! Have fun!

My wife and I have stayed at Port Orleans Riverside a few times, the most recent stay was for a week during our honeymoon. It's probably my favorite resort on property. It has a very relaxed atmosphere that's missing at some of the busier, more lively resorts. It's very tranquil with the river running through the resort property and all the trees and walkways. It will be a nice place to come back do after a busy day at the parks. There's also a good food court and a great restaurant (Boatwright's) in the main lobby area. Plus, Port Orleans Riverside is located close to Downtown Disney. I recommend taking the shuttle boat to get there.

I've also stayed at Boardwalk, Saratoga Springs and the Grand Floridian. Of those three, I think I liked the Boardwalk the best, because it's within walking distance of Epcot and the rooms and service are great.

I've stayed there at least 4 different times. It's my favorite resort there even though I've stayed at some of the nicer and more luxurious ones. Port Orleans Riverside is not only a beautiful resort but its also very relaxing and quiet. The food court there is also good and of course there is pizza delivery to your room. I think you made a great choice.

I have also stayed at Coronado Springs, Wilderness Lodge, All Star Music, Carribean Beach and Boardwalk. I liked Wilderness Lodge the best out of these!

have a great time!

I've stayed in several Disney hotels but not the Riverside.

I really enjoyed the Contemporary. It has a monorail running right through so it was very easy access to the Magic Kingdom. There was a large restaurant called Chef Mickey's that has unbelievable character breakfasts. Even if you don't stay at the Contemporary, book a character breakfast there.

I also really like the Coronado. I've stayed at the Coronado a few times. Its a very large complex with many winding sidewalks that ended up eventually making me dizzy. They have a really great restaurant there were you can pick out items that you want to eat and not just something off the menu. Their themed pool has an Aztec theme to it.

I've visited the Carribbean resort too. It is very flamboyant with color so I felt it was rather more "cheesy" than anything. Their layout of the grounds is very similar to that to the Coronado.

Have a wonderful vacation and don't forget to book a character breakfast at Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary.

Haven't stayed at the Port Orleans or Riverside, but the Animal Kingdom Lodge is excellent (with or without kids). The rooms are nice, restaurants at the hotel are EXCELLENT. The lobby is incredible. Giraffes, ox, zebras are right outside your room. The have on-site childcare, if you want some quiet time. The only downside is the bus ride (no monorail) is somewhat long to get to the Magic Kingdon (about 20 minutes). I would definitely stay the again.

I've never stayed there but I have been there. Very nice and looks relatively quiet. In the same price category I've stayed at the Carri bean and loved it.
