Nothing you can do beyond recognizing his illness for him. If he ever sees it, you can help him get professional treatment. It is much less common in males than females and probably has different underlying reasons.

ali: I have had dealings with people, who had eating disorders and the only thing, which worked and saved their lives, was professional intervention and treatment. Your friend will not listen to anyone because he doesn't believe you when you tell him that he is the right - proper weight ! He sees himself as "fat" ... over weight, and believes this too ! This is why professional help is essential !!! Since you know about this ... YOU have to be the one to start "the ball rolling" and have your friend's eating disorder brought to the attention of someone, who can give him proper and adequate direction to work towards a solution !!! Try your school Guidance Counsellor, church Pastor / Priest or a medical professional ( Dr. , school nurse, etc.) - This is a very serious condition, as he is starving himself to death !!! "ali"; Good luck to you and thanks for caring !!!

Encourage him to seek some treatment. He will most probably not be able to stop on his own. It has to do with body image and perception. And people who suffer from this disorder have a very distorted view of their bodies. He would need medical attention and psychological assistance to work through this. Good luck and God bless****

ok one thing you should deffinatly NOT do is tell him that he looks good/hott because hes lost weight..that will make him think that being anorexic is helping him..instead (this migh sound kind of snobby) tell him he looks unhealthily skinny or that he looked better before he was anorexic..and you can always sit him down and have a heart to heart with him..if he is a true friend he will take what you say into considertion and realize how worried you are

Tell him that you don't want to see him die. Tell him that it will be hard to see a friend pass away in front of your eyes and you didn't do anything about it. Pray for him and help him any way that you can. Talk to his parents and your parents about him and get him some help. Ask him why he is doing it and tell him that you will be by his side every step of the way.

regrettably, i'm anorexic besides (and that i'm a guy). even nonetheless, one ingredient I take excitement in is whilst human beings tell me i'm no longer fat/grotesque. So one ingredient you need to do is tell her that she's no longer fat/grotesque. the different ingredient you need to to is have a talk along with her mothers and fathers and attempt to get her expert help.

Sorry, but it's really impossible to make him stop.
Counselors, Nutritionists, etc won't help much.
He wants to be skinny, you can't change that.

For now, just be supportive of him.
Let him know that you're there for him no matter what.
