...What do I do now? Dillema?

Question

okay ,i'm finishing high school
should i take an year off ,work ,make some money ,becoz i wana move out alone ,get a car,and i want to travel...
Or i go to college directly/my program is 4 years,and i'm not 100% sure i wana study that/
I know I have to make the desision alone ,but i would like to see what do you think ?

I'll tell you what I did:

While most teenagers are eager to get away from home and begin to work right off of high school, and I understand you want to move out, that may not be the best answer. Think about it, you're wasting time! The more you put off school (college) the harder it becomes for you to go back to school later. Here's what I recommend:

* Stay at home...what's for more years? You'll have less bills, no rent to pay, no groceries to buy and you have more support from your parents because they know you're going to school. If you can, convince them that maybe work's not the best thing for you right now.
* Try as hard as you can, to just go to school. While you get used to the workload and stuff, it'll help NOT to have to work.
* Also, look for scholarships (if you have a good GPA). Too many kids get loans and so we have people graduating with an enormous amount of debt. I graduated with NO DEBT!!! It can be done!
* You may not know what you want to do right now and THAT'S OK!!! You don't have to declare a major right away. Get in, get a feel for it, feel successful and then, when you're ready and have explored different fields, you can declare a major.
* If you want to travel...you can do a study abroad thing, it's offered in college and it'll give you an excellent opportunity to advance your studies while you travel.

I think its a good idea to start right away, unless you're completely unsure of what you want to to. If you're deciding between being a chemist or a political scientist, you may want to figure that out before jumping into anything. But most people know what they are good at before graduating HS (unless you're exeptional at everything) so if you're into the humanities for example, you can shop around the first year and not waste too much time because many classes can be transferrable towards your degree in many similar disciplines . There's always time to work in the summer.

If it's that important to you not to start right away, become a part time student, that way you'll you can do both work and study and see which is a better fit.
