Just so I understand: Is the MAC connected to the router, or to the PC? If the MAC is connected to the PC, every packet is being processed by the PC, first, and of course it would slow it down.

If that is NOT the case, then the problem is with your MAC. It's probably not a virus, since MACs don't often get them. Is you MAC network interface slower than that NIC in your PC? 10 Mbs is not really slow, but I don't know what kind of network connection you have.

James, it sounds like you laptop is low on RAM and you may need to increase it! Or you need to do a thorough maintenance clean up of your system by deleting any and all Internet trash files. To view videos (comfortably) on your PC/laptop you need at least 512 RAM. The more the better!

either one or the other has a slower RAM than the other one, maybe your signal for your router is picked up faster with whatever one has the faster connection, you really need to be specific in your question on this one to actually get a correct answer.

i have a MAC and my internet speeds are much quicker on Safari, rather than Internet Explorer. Have you tried both programs if you have them both?
