I got my ears pierced 4 weeks ago, but I just received new earrings for Chanukah and I really want to wear them! Is it safe to change my earrings yet? What may happen if I do?

It will be okay. When you get your ears pierced, the rule of thumb is four to six weeks before changing your earrings out. If you squeeze your earlobes just a tad (not to hurt yourself), and they are tender to the touch, then they still may be healing and you may want to wait. If you do go ahead and decide to change them out, make sure you wash your hands first and then clean your new earrings with the stuff that they gave you at the piercing parlor (no alcohol, no peroxide, no neosporin) and put your earrings in. You probably don't want to swap in and out of earrings yet. Let your new ones stay in a week or two before changing them again, just to lessen the possibility of infection. If you do it the right way, the worst thing that can happen is that you can get a little bit of crust on your earlobes and tenderness. This is blood or puss that's dried up on your lobes. Don't handle your ears too much, because you don't want to irritate them. If your ears start burning or itching a lot, take the new earrings out because you may be allergic to the metal in them. Of course if the earrings are platinum or gold, you should be OK.

Good luck!

I just got my ears pierced last night, and the gun was stuck to my earring, then the diamond fell out. Well she said to wait a week or two to come back and get it repierced which I think is crazy. So I got home and I cleaned my hands and I switched the earring out really fast but afterwards I cleaned it really really good. But this morning it's more sore than usual but that is probably from her pulling on my earring. The redness has also went down but if it isn't better in the next week I might go back to see her and get it re pierced

No, you should wait 6 weeks before you change into new earrings. I know this is a pain, but trust me its worth it. If you wait, you will never have to worry about repiercing or infections. If you take it out too early the hole in your ear will heal EXTREMELY fast, and the hole will close up. I know taking the earring out of your ear for 30 seconds to exchange new ones does not seem like enough time for it to grow back in, but it has happened to my friend, it really sucks. Are the earrings worth risking that piercing and the 4 weeks you waited? Also, that small amount of time is enough for it to become infected. Finally, since your ears are adapting to a hole in your ear, it might start to crust and become irritated, this feeling is really uncomfortable. It also might start bleeding if your ears are sensitive. Only a little part of the hole needs to heal so that you can't insert earrings. My advice: PLEASE wait until 6 weeks.

If you decide to try to change to the new earrings, please remember to clean your ears thouroughly with the stuff they gave you before you change them. Change the earrings really fast(which is going to be hard since you have never done it before) and have an adult stand next to you to help. If your ears start to itch and burn after you put in new earrings, you are allergic to the metal in the earrings, and take them out immediatly.

And

Happy Chanukah!

You should read Thomas Coleman's book "Tinnitus Miracle" ( also available in electronic format here: http://www.tinnituscureforever.com ). Almost everyone who has used Tinnitus Miracle has reported success in treatment.

Some people use drugs and get surgeries done to get rid of the annoying constant ringing in their ears. But these are only temporary solutions to a grave problem, which needs to be eradicated from the very root of it. The disease has a number of root causes, but only when each has been dealt with the disease gets fully cured. Otherwise, it keeps reappearing. Drugs and herbal medicines can cure only the root causes, which is why they cannot be completely relied upon.

Most people may change their earrings 2 wks after piercing. You might ask someone to help you the first time so you can find the hole in the back.

it will probably be fine, but if the new earrings are not real gold, you could get an infection from putting them in so soon.
