Most early miscarriages (within the first 3 months) are caused by fetal malformations or genetic defects in the fetus.

You should avoid exposure to fumes and chemical smells, including paint and household cleansers, when you are pregnant. Have hubby do the painting.

I would open a window or use an air cleaner and take regular breaks but I always painted when I was pregnant and all my 3 kids turned out fine. Some pains arent as bad as others I wold just ask when you go buy it. Anyways you probably wouldnt have time to paint it after the baby comes. There's always a chance of problems/complications when your pregnant but most people deliver healthy babies so go have fun painting your new house.Good luck!

Let your partner do the painting if you are pregnant. Some say it's safe, but I had my last miscarriage the day after I painted my kitchen. I can't say for sure what caused it, but I will never paint again when pregnant just to be safe.

With the experience youve had , I would tend to be on the wary side, and give the painting a miss. I was decoratoing right up till I gave birth, but then I have never had a miscarrage, felt well and fit, and dont believe in treating pregancy like an illness. But you take it easy and all will be well for you next time. All the Best.

There are paints that are safe during pregnancy. My husband and I got it at Menards when I was pregnant. It comes in the same colors as most every other paint but, it doesn't have the dangerous vapors. It's also a bit more expensive. Hope everything goes well!

My OB always says for safteys sake dont paint while pregnant & stay out of the home or room for 12 to 24 hours. Although their are low odor paints there is not enough evidance this can make a differance. Play it safe & let him paint

I think it would be best to avoid any exposure to the chemicals in paint.
If you do want to do some painting, only use water based paints, keep the room well ventilated and take lots of breaks.
As as far exposure to toxins during pregnancy goes, it's best to avoid as many as possible. Best you take a supervisory role and leave the rest to your partner!

It is safe to paint in your second trimester, not the first or third. However, use low odour paints, ventilate well (all windows open) and avoid stretching too much, standing on steps or bending over too much.

Be careful, and if you're not sure ask your doctor / midwife.

Good luck

If the house is old some of the woodwork may have been painted with lead based paint so be very careful if scraping or sanding. Leave the glossing to your partner, use odourless emulsions and please be carefulon ladders and to much stretching Good luck!

you can get all sorts of paint these days, just check on the tins they should tell you, but you really should be doing as little as poss in the first three months so when you fall pregnant make sure your partner is up to finishing the house off, if hes anything like mine get pros in.
good luck xxxx
