Why is it that you can buy lethal cancer causing cigarettes from most shops however shops aren't allowed ( I don't think) to sell nicotine replacement therapy aids? (Patches/Gum etc).

The Government whinges on about how much smokers cost the National Health Service so why isn't NRT therapy free sold next to cigarettes in shops?

Is it purely financial as tax on cigarettes is extertionate?

As sure as there are health issues there is also tax revenue!!! The government makes to much money to abolish smoking altogether. Furthermore is they abolish smoking then bootlegging on cigarettes would occur. Just like Bootlegging occurred when they prohibited booze.
People that smoke will continue to smoke might as well take the tax dollar.

Smokers put their own lives at risk. It's a do-it-yourself effort. The government has nothing to do with it, except to tax the living daylights out of tobacco products.

Cigarettes are big business. The government taxes them to have liberals get money to fund their useless programs.
