Hello and good evening. A friend is trying to get hold an older style perfume called '4-7-11'. I remember it when I was a child because Mum used it. If anyone here remembers this perfume, and, more importantly, where in the UK I can get one before Christmas, I would be eternally grateful. If any of you can help direct me to a store which stocks this, it would help me enormously. Thank you very much for any help you can give me. It is greatly appreciated.

4711 is pure eau de cologne. Any good perfume shop should sell it. Otherwise, do a web search on 4711.

It is written 4711 and it is called the original eau de cologne. Although made in Germany, it is still widely available in the UK and both chemists in my town stock it. I bought a huge 800 ml bottle (27.1 fl oz) once for a special present - cost about £75! But you can buy the ordinary bottles in lots of sizes, and also things like the cool stick (which is the same fragrance in a solid stick form) and wipes.

Boots would probably have it, or any pharmacy. Possibly even some of the supermarkets. You don't need to feel embarrassed asking for it - it is an oldfashioned thing but still used by many.

The bottles are distinctive with a deep turquoise and gold.

I remember 4711 as a child because my father would buy it for his secretary. My local chemist sells it & I've seen it in other shops. If you live in London, my chemist is in Wembley! Maybe ask in chemists that sell lots of perfumes.

I've seen it on sale recently in chemist shops - still with the old turquoise and gold filigree design around the writing! Check out the older, more mature chemist shops - they should have it.

Happy Christmas, I hope you find it.

Try Boots. It's probably right next to the Yardley Lace.
