Hi,

This seems a weird question but I need to know - so please answer me if you know.

I am taking Dianette pill and I stop next week (sat) but that means my period will come in time for xmas day !! (total nightmare!!)

Do you know if I could miss that week I am supposed to stop taking the pill, and start taking my next pack the day after? Would this affect my period after doing this?

Thanks for your help!
Merry Xmas ladies!

Dont take the 7 day break, go straight on to the next pack of pills. You may get some spotting, but you will not get a full blown period. It is safe to do this once in a while, but dont try it month after month otherwise you will become ill..;

I take Dianette too!!! I was ment to take my last pill last night and then get my period on saturday!!!! which would have ment through xmas too. So i am just going to carry on and miss my 7 day break!!!! I sometimes do this, i never do it more than 3 packets of 21 tablets if i take the 3 packets without a break i always stop after the third, the only side effect of this would be your period will be heavier the longer you wait and the cramp will be much worse, i have never had any spotting, may have a slight discolour in discharge aroung the days of your period but no blood !!! But hey woman have more **** than that to deal with!!!! eh!!! Hope you have a great xmas!!!!

With any contraceptive pills where you take a three week active pill course followed by either a week of inactive pills or have a pill free week to allow for a 'period' it is possible to take a second pack of active pills back to back to prevent your period. This will not affect the effectiveness of the pill, still preventing you getting pregnant provided it is taken as you would normally take your active pills and isn't harmful although doctors recommend taking no more than two packs back to back without a pill free week to keep your cycle normal. Hope this helps!

Just take it right after. If you don't you'll be stuck w/ a period. If you do, you won't but you'll be a week ahead. It's your choice, if you want to do that, go ahead. I don't suggest doing that every month, though, you could become sick. It will make your period go how it does when you're on the pill.

You should talk to your doctor before doing this.

Good Luck, and Merry Christmas.

Go straight on to the next pack, don't take a break, it's not really a period you get when you have your week off, only breakthrough bleeding cos you're not taking it. That's what I learned on my Family Planning Nurses course anyway.
Good luck

You can skip your period by just starting your next pack right after this last one. It may make your period heavier next time and you may experience spotting especially when your period should have been but it is different for every woman's body. That's what I've experienced when I've skipped my periods using the pill.

I have a friend who purposely skips her period for several months.
