I'll try to keep this polite. :I
First off, of course there is still ice! Do you really think centuries upon centuries of frozen water is going to disappear just like that? The ice IS melting--here's one source, but just google it and you'll find a billion of them:
http://www.keepwintercool.org/images/nrdc_earth_small.jpg
The earth IS getting warmer, there is so much proof out there that you must not be paying much attention or be in denial to think otherwise. You should see "An Inconvenient Truth", it might change your point of view a bit.
Even if there was no proof (which is NOT at all what I'm saying), that doesn't mean we shouldn't change what we're doing! Waste, pollution, and animal habitat destruction aren't good no matter how you spin it. So say you don't care? Well tell me how you like it when the water's so polluted we can't see through it, the trees are all cut down so we can't breathe, and the air has become so smoggy that we're all living underground to get away from it.
Science has proved that global warming is happening, and if you can't see that you're obviously blind. Do some effing research!
The government and media have done a fantastic job on you, for sure. Just like the billions of other people who belive whatever they hear from our wonderful Mr. Bush and his associates. They are trying to make it seem less of a threat than it is! Why would so many people buy into this if it weren't true? What would they have to gain?
I think it's very sad that there are so many small-minded people like you in the world. That's all I have to say.
Oh, and FYI, my family has never owned an SUV, we recycle, shop at co-ops when we can, and get a percentage of our power from wind power. So call me a hypocrite, but you'll be lying.

Throughout history the earth has been heating up. 1. The earth was actually heating faster back in the 1850's - 1900 than it is today. That was before greenhouse gases came into play. The "severe" weather that the world is having was worse back in the early to mid 1900's. 2. Take for example hurricanes. There were more hurricanes in the first half of the 20th century than there were in later half; the most being in the 40's. 3. People or I should say the media says that the sea levels are rising, sea levels have been rising since the beginning of time. However, up until recently, sea levels have been measured from tide gauges. The average rise of the sea level are 1.7-2.4mm/year, which is about 6 to 9 inches every century. Since the sea level rise switched over to satellite, the global mean sea level rise is 3.1mm/year for the decade or slightly more than 12 inches/century. Satellites however show considerable variation. While the northern Pacific is rising, the southern Pacific level is falling.
There is much more evidence supporting both sides. My personal and educated opinion is that the earth is just having a warming cycle that has been going on since the last ice age. I think that global warming has been blown out of proportion my the media in the last ten years because the really needed something else to scare people. I listed all of my sources, they are all reputable government agencies or colleges listed below. One more thing Al Gore is an idiot liberal politician who only made that movie so he could run for president in the near future.

Why did the last ice age end 15,000 years ago? Surely man didn't cause all the ice to melt! I doubt that industrial green house gases had much affect either.
The hotist year on record was not last year either, but in the 1930s during the 'great dust bowl'.
Human being don't live on the earth long enough to comprehend its cycles. Do you realize that the magnetic poles have switched several times? Why are there tropical fossils in what is now Alaska.?
Is the climate changing, yes it is. Do we know why - no! Because scientists that are not political rarely get their evidence noticed or deliberately ignored. Why, because their results do not fit the angenda of a political party.
Fossil and petroleum fuels power and heat the United States and most industrial nations. The political agenda to remove either as a useable fuel will destroy the economy of the world. Do you think most people are capable of returning to a hunter/gatherer society?
Now the UN claims that cattle contribute 1/4 of the so called green house gases. Are cattle to be removed too? What about the millions of people that depend on cattle as a protein source?
Is the earth's climate changing, I would have to say yes. But lets quit demanding immediate, extreme changes by humans and allow the scientist to do their job and attempt to find out why the changes are happening.
Afterall, the earth is about 4-5 billion years old, mankind might make it back 2 million.

In 40 years the North Pole will have been completely melted....Global warming IS happening! I've seen comparative photographs of different glaciers back in the 70's and then now...and it is shocking to see how what was once a massive mountain of ice is now reduced to a puddle of slush. You might not feel like the world is getting warmer, but the environment is feeling it. Icebergs are melting too, which is why the polar bears are drowning (way too far to swim between them, and they get tired). With all that ice melting, the water level has to go up, and already hundreds of families (it seems to be affecting Alaska first) have lost their homes and have had to move because the water has completely covered their once beach front properties. Global warming is a reality.

My name is Rafael Lomena. I write from Alicante (Spain). I am independent investigator on the Accelerated Global Heating and want to share with all something that can turn out from interest to fight this phenomenon.
I believe that the main cause of the Accelerated Global Heating is in the great and increasing forest fires that are whipping to the planet in the last years.
My complete report is in: http://inicia.es/de/rlv/clim.htm
If they do not understand the Spanish they can use the automatic translator that will find in the main page of site:

Thanks to all.

Yes. It is. Science has proved that the ice is melting. And last year was the hottest one on record. And polar bears are practically drowning!
