It's possible that the "new" battery is not any good, I would take it back and get another one.

You either have a faulty charger, or the port used for charging has developed a fault. If the phones still underwarranty, then you can get it fixed for free. You have 1 year from date of purchase.

If its no longer under warranty, then you best bet is to buy a new phone as paying for the repair is not worth it as you will be looking to pay around £50, where you can get a new one for this price.

You can get cheap new phones from here. They are part of the carphonewarehouse group and very cheap.

Call your provider (from a different phone). They should be able to trouble shoot over the phone with you. They should replace it if it is under warranty. Oh - and return your new battery if they replace the phone.

I wouldn't mind betting you've exposed it to too much moisture. check if you have a small paper disk that has changed colour or is a bright colour. if not scratch the surface of the brass batterry receivers in the back of your phone to clean the connection.
