I have had the same problem with many of my phones, all Nokias.
I have a genuine Nokia charger for the car but the end is slightly damaged and on occasion it flashes the message "unable to charge" and sometimes it is ok.
It is a problem with the charger for sure because I have had the same message with all nokia phones I have tried it with but the fault does not ocur when I try a different charger.

Have you tried a different charger or used your charger with a different phone?

You either have a faulty charger, or the port used for charging has developed a fault. If the phones still underwarranty, then you can get it fixed for free. You have 1 year from date of purchase.

If its no longer under warranty, then you best bet is to buy a new phone as paying for the repair is not worth it as you will be looking to pay around £50, where you can get a new one for this price.

You can get cheap new phones from here. They are part of the carphonewarehouse group and very cheap.

The charger is shot I Hope. Did you get it wet? If so it's probably the handset. Take it down to where you bought it and see if it'll charge off of one of thiers.
