Everytime I drop a wav. sample into a track it looses quality. It sounds worse than it does in media player...
I have a standard HP notebook with a simple soundcard. Somebody help please...

First, check to be sure that your WAV file is recorded at the best setting for what your trying to do. I generally record WAVs at 16-bit, 48 kHz or 16-bit, 44.1 kHz to get the best quality. This creates a WAV file that is uncompressed and is usually the highest possible quality. If you're working with a 12-bit, 16 kHz WAV file, it's not very high quality to begin with.

Your sound editor may have a feature that gives you lower quality before making the final mix. Software sometimes does this because it doesn't have the power to create full-quality mixes in real time. See if there is a box to check that says something like "High-quality preview."

Mostly, you should check your settings to make sure you're allocating enough memory and disk space for your edits. They can take up a lot of space in memory. You may also want to consider upgrading to 1 GB of RAM if you don't already have it.
