I had an ultrasound and everything came back normal except an abnormal excessive fluid, which my doc said was blood in my cul-de-sac... what does that indicate?
it showed up on the ultrasound. my periods are normal in frequency and the amount of blood. It hurts a whole lot though. And even when I am not having my period I have bad backaches and abdominal pain, which has been constant for the last three months (as in everyday...every minute) and on and off in the two years before that.
I had an abdominal and pelvic ultrasound... I am assuming it was the pelvic one that showed the blood.

When he was told by the radiologist he started asking about my sexual pattern. When I told him I was not sexually active, he said 'okay that rules out one major problem.'
I later realized he was talking about eptopic (not sure if its spelt alright) pregnancy.

I do not have it wrong, I have the ultrasound write up in front of me. It says 'Kidneys, Gallstones, Liver, Bladder and Pancreas are all normal. Ovaries are normal in size and shape, no evidence of mass. The only abnormality seen is more than moderate/ excessive fluid in the cul-de-sac.'

The cul-de-sac may also refer to a street but it also may refer to the area of the woman's abdominal cavity behind the lower part of the uterus.

A cul de sac is an area of fluid collection in the "pelvic area." It is actually called the cul de sac of douglas to be correct. Fluid collection in this area is usually not alarming. Excessive fluid can indicate a ruptured follicle or ovarian cyst. It sounds as if your physician was looking for a cause of your abdominal or pelvic discomfort, and sent you for an ultrasound. He was trying to rule out an ectopic pregnancy or other anomaly for a cause of pain. If its negative it is good news. If you continue to have pain associated with your cycle, other than this recent event, visit your doctor more frequently. It could be premenstrual dysphoric syndrome or you may need a laproscopy to further investigate the source of your pain. But, if only blood in the cul de sac... your fine.

Also, it is not endometriosis, because that would have showed up easily on the ultrasound.

In my neighborhood a flooded cul-de-sac means you'll have to back up instead of driving around the circle.

The only cul-de-sac I know of is the one where homes surround a common driveway.

There is no such thing as a cul-de-sac in your body! A cul-de-sac is when the street rounds off.

Fluid in the cul-de-sac means your street is flooded. Now what are you really asking?

You really need to read "Endometriosis Bible & Violet Protocol" by Zoe Brown (also available in electronic format here: http://www.endometriosisbible.info ). It's about how to eradicate endometriosis disease forever. It worked for me, you will see results in only a matter of weeks. Good Luck!

Going by the pains that you were discribing it makes it very possible that you may be a candidate for endometriosis....might be something to talk to your doctor about.
