I was once in a beach cabin that I owned and just before dark a "water spout" was spotted coming our way. Well, we all vacated the beach and ran into the cabins. It passed right over my cabin and here is kind of what happened.
1. The wooden window shutters flew open on the beach side as the tornado pulled a vacuum on the inside of the cabin.
2. It sounded like a freight train as it hit and one of the large window panes flew across the room
3. Water blew all the way across the room like a firehose on fog nozzle setting was being discharged into the cabin.
4. In seconds it went on inland.
5. I ran outside on the porch and the tidal rise had pushed the saltwater up under the cabin. The sea level just prior had been 190' away.
Yes, I found out a water spout over the ocean is really a tornado when it comes ashore.
Hope this experience helps you get an idea of just one of the forces of nature.

If anyone ever survives in a tornado and is still around to tall about, the person should thank God more than once cor mercy. I've seen what devastation those things can do, so much damage and it ain't pretty at all. That is why I don't understand why do people cry when they lose their property, but not cry for being alive and spared from such dangerous weather.

It happens. The answer is vague because there are so many things that happen. There are reported incidents of a person being gently lifted, carried, and lowered to the earth without harm. There are reports of harm associated with the incident. Some have died. There are reports of everything around a person being lifted and the person being left alone. My mother saw a garage lifted, turned 180 degrees, and set back down on the foundation with very little damage. The car remained in place without harm. Our understanding of these things is very limited. We know lots, but it doesn't mean we understand. It's all happened.
