I work full time (40+/week) with developmentally disabled adults and am no longer feeling the same level of satisfaction that I was when I started this job 14 months ago. I am growing very frustrated, bored and underappeciated.

Ultimately you need to make this decision, but here are some signs I used to decide "enough is enough."

1. When I woke up every morning I felt sick to my stomach because I didn't want to go to work.
2. Every time I got an email I cringed because my boss frequently used email to scorch the earth and berate her employees.
3. I found myself taking out my frustration on my family in the evenings (whenever I got home before 10:00 pm).
4. I started finding ways to "medicate" myself - alcohol was the favorite.

In retrospect I waited WAY too long, because one of the above signs is probably too many. When these things happen, it's not worth it anymore. I was making wonderful money, and decided to take a pay cut in order to get out of there. Now though, I'm happy, get off on time, am nice to my family again, and most importantly...not drinking to ease my "pain."

Good luck on the choice.

That sounds just about right! And you're not the only one. I really had a passion for accounting and now i'm thinking about something else (maybe marketing or journalism). Anwways, your mind wouldnt lie to you. You don't want to be stuck in a profession where you dread getting up in the morning. Stick it out a few more weeks and if nothing has changed say Adios! Im pretty sure you'll find something else.

you just answered you own question. almost everyone on earth has to work, but we should not have the extra burdon of doing something we hate to do, we can always look for more exciting ways to make a living and enjoy what we do. You can even do what thousands of people are doing these days, start a home business, you can check out this site if you so choose to for some great ideas http://www.sweeting.ws

If you dread going into work more often than you look forward to it, that's a sure sign it's time for either a vacation or a job change. If a vacation doesn't solve things, then it's time to dust off your interview clothes.

Perhaps you would like children, older people without disablities etc. It does sound like you need a change.
