My baby has recently developed several angry red spots on his face, mainly his chin and cheeks and are not on any other part of his body. They came suddenly about three days ago and look like little insect bites. They don't seem to itch and he seems well enough in himself.

Probably just a normal baby rash, if they develop yellow heads see GP. Have you used any baby wipes on his face as my baby used to get spotty from using those on her face. Spots around chin are often from dribbling milk and the skin remaining wet. Dry his chin and the creases in the neck. Relax and enjoy your baby!

It could just be that he has an allergy to something his skin has come into contact with or it could simply be spots like the type seen in adults. I wouldn't worry too much - try an astringent cleanser that is mild enough for his very young skin (nothing too strong or with too much alcohol in that could dry his skin) or some savlon cream to help them heal. Avoid scratching, picking or irritating them to avoid further infection and potential scarring. If they get any worse or the baby develops any other symptoms, speak to your GP or health visitor. And congrats on your new baby!

my baby used to get heat rash in the summer, now that it is winter it hasn't come out as much. When my 5 month old son drools on his face he gets red blotches on his cheeks and chin, I use a moisturizing stick from "Teeny Faces" every noght before he goes to bed and when he wakes up in the morning his face is clear. You can buy it for like $3 from wal-mart in the baby section

It sounds like he has baby acne. This is a very common, normal baby rash that occurs on the child's face. All I would do is clean his face with plain water and nothing else, no soap. It could take time to go away but it is no big deal.

I would ask your midwife or doctor.

My new son is nearly three weeks and he has some little white headed spots but they are not red. the midwife said that they are enlarged oily glands and they are OK but if they get red I need to let her know as they might be infected.

So I'd get them checked out just to be on the safe side.

That's normal, from how you describe what it looks like it sounds like baby acne (obviously that's not the scientific name) and should clear up on it's own. But also it doesn't hurt to check with the pediatrician to get a professional opinion.

My daughter started teething at 8 weeks and had a very angry teething rash. Seems a little young for teething so I would probably get him to the doctors. This will put your mind at rest and they may give him sonething for it.

Babies get all sorts of little blemishes ... you will find that these little spots will disappear soon enough, but if you are still concerned, speak to your midwife/health visitor. I am sure you have nothing to worry unduly about!
