The storyline says that Kane was trapped in a fire by the Undertaker

He isn't really burnt it's all make up
He was supposed to be burnt as a child when Undertaker set the house on fire and Kane was trapped inside.

Storyline.
As a child Undertaker killed his mom and burned the house down.
(at the time 'taker was a heel)
Thats why Kane came to WWF to get undertaker.
Then they had to try dumbass excuses when he was unmasked about why his face wasnt burned.

kane and undertaker were in a buired alive match and undertaker got oil and then it started a fire and undertaker got his face and put it in the fire

I think he was it an inferno match and Shane, Vince, and some other WWE superstars got in the match and put his face in the fire.
