I recently had a miscarriage and had to have a d&c done the day before Thanksgiving. I just started my period yesterday and it is horrible. My back is killing me and the bleeding is very heavy. I got up to go the restroom this morning to change my tampon. The water in the toilet was very red. Is it normal for the bleeding to be this heavy?

yes but not so heavy that you are going through tampons every 5 min if so you could be hemorrhaging. try to lay on your back and keep your feet above your head for a few days you just had a very serious health problem take it easy and follow up with the Dr. if things get worse.

you poor thing! It is normal to bleed quite heavily after a d+c but if the pain in your back gets worse then just get yourself checked out just to exclude an infection. Also I suggest that you just use a sanitary towel for now to prevent any further irritation. Hope you feel abit better soon.

I would think it was normal, but not this long after it was done. Your first period after the d&c is more likely to be heavy, but not this heavy and not this long afterwards. I think you need to see a doctor.

Yes. A d&c causes a great deal of trauma to your uterus, and it will take a little time for you to have normal periods again (although this one will be the worst). At least you can be reassured that your cycle is normal.

i don't have a clue. but that much bleeding can be a threat to your health. get advice from someone who knows, even if you must see a doctor as an emergency.

It could be normal, but rather go to your gynie and have it checked out- better safe then sorry. I'm sure it is nothing, but get peace of mind.
