Every other sound to my knowledge echos so why not a quack from a duck?

That is an urban legend. Have you ever seen ducks while they are on the water and heard there quack? Then you have heard the echo of a duck's quack. If ducks quacks didn't echo on the water the rest of their flock wouldn't be able to find their own flock among all the other flocks of ducks are migrating. When they are migrating several flocks will land in the same lake. The ducks in the air can find their flock from among all the other flocks on the lake because water not only echoes but magnifies the sound. I don't know who made that up but he or she obviously never saw ducks migrate.

A ducks quack does in fact echo. It jsut sounds just like the origional quack and doesnt travel far.

A duck's quack, like any other sound, does echo. It is just a myth that it doesn't.

this was on a bbc program called mythbusters, and they proved that a ducks quack does echo, but because of the wavelength or something it doesnt last long at all

It absolutely does echo!
I have heard duck's echos off of buildings in urban parks, and off canyon walls in the wild.

You now all depends what language you speak all the animals ducklings or quack ling are different to your ears .They sound different in other languages
