1st, don't assume that as a girl she won't enjoy first person shooters, strategy games, racing games, horror games or fighting games.
I like the Silent Hill games, Resident Evil, Clock Tower, Devil May Cry, Grand Theft Auto, etc.
2nd, if she actually DOESN'T like those games, try these :
Katamari Damacy
We <3 Katamari
Dance Dance Revolution
Sims
Harvest Moon
Good Luck!

Try Fur Fighters - Viggo's Revenge. Yes it does sound kinda kiddy, but she might like it depending on her personality and preferences. In this game, you get to play seven little childish animals with guns in their hands, collceting gold pyramids, rescuing family, and all those concepts you might find in Sonic games. But, if shes likes collecting and fighting, try Final Fantasy XII. It's great! But if it's the Sonic perspective she craves, then Fur Fighters it is! I hope this helped and good luck finding it! By the way, Merry Christmas to you and your g/f! Oh, by the way, try EB games when looking for it, or GameStop, wherever you are. One more thing, don't get Ratchet and Clank. It's old and it's just gonna piss you BOTH off. Trust me, it pissed me off bad.

Ask her if she might like Metal Gear Solid. A lot of women (myself included) like it because it has action, movie scenes, and lots of sneaking around (not just a sraight shooter). It's got an excellent plot too. It's like being in a spy movie.
She might like Katamari Damasi (sp?). It's pretty addicting. You are just a ball and you have to roll around picking stuff up to get bigger and bigger.
One game I'm going to buy is Okami, which is an adventure game where you play as a wolf god.
There's also the "not" games, like Kareoke Revolution (SOOO addicting and way fun for parties or alone) or DDR.

I say just get her a gift card for a game store or walmart or something and let her go pick the ones she wants like the cheap $20 ones unless you want it to be more personal or thoughtful I guess would be best to put it. Hope this helps.

My 17-year-old daughter says that she'd probably enjoy these: Spyro, Dark Cloud, Klonoa, or Crash Bandicoot. If you search for these on Amazon.com, it will suggest other games in the same genre.
Good luck!
