Most interpretations of the Bible say "stable". However, many times caves were used as stables for animals. I have not seen any specific reference to either a barn or a cave in the Bible; then again, I may not have looked hard enough. Needless to say, whether a cave or a barn, the point is that Jesus was born to very humble beginnings but was glorified when He returned to heaven.

He was born in a cave outside of Bethlehem. The cave was set up as a temporary shelter for pilgrims celebrating the Feast of Dedication. The upper floor of the cave (built on scaffolding) was for people, and the lower floor was used to store the livestock. Because there was no room on the upper floor, Joseph and Mary had to stay on the lower floor with the livestock.

In that day and in that area caves were used as stables. So it was a cave that was a stable and there were animals in it.

None of the above, really. Jesus is/was a fictional character with little or no supporting historical documentation, depending on your standards.

If you want the myth, then you have to specify which translation of the myth you want.
