Multiply the top numbers by each other = 1*1 = 1
Multiply the bottom ones by each other = 2*3 = 6
The answer is 1/6
Can't remember the maths terms for the top and bottom numbers, but that is always the way to solve these, turn the bottom figure into a 'common' one, one that can be used to figure it out; then do the top numbers and get that figure. You're then left with a fraction using a common lower part.

1/2 - 2/3 I would just subtract 2/3's from 1/2
3/6 - 4/6 Find the lcd
1/6 Your answer is 1/6
The reason I would subtract 2/3 is because 3/3 = 1
3/3 - 1/3 = 2/3
If you take 2/3 from 1/2 you will get the remaining 1/3 as the answer.
