I think the first step would be is to get power of attorney over him. That way you have the right to make changes within the company. Anything that has his name on it (bank accounts, titles, etc) will be accessible to you. You can even take his name off of accounts and put your name on them. But you also must be aware of the laws in your state. Ask a lawyer for advice. Some actually do give free advice over the phone. And you don't need a lawyer to get power of attorney. Get the form at Office Depot and find a notary public to witness yours and your father's signatures.

Did you work with him enough to know how the business runs, and are you a licensed electrician? If so, you might be ready to take over the business. Is your dad in agreement on this? If so, contact a lawyer, tell them what you want to do, and they'll guide you through it.

Well for starters you have to know what electricity is about and learn more about its dangers and all other things about it. then ask him for guidness and all other things that are needed.Lastly ask him about the tips on how he has done his business without failing. NB- If you can't manage then don't push your self otherwise you might end up hurting your self or you destroying all your dad has made progess in all these years.
