Mass is for the celebration of his birth but you do have a point! I like it!

For one, I don't think Christbirth fits well. Also, the name 'Christmas' means "mass on Christ's day". This term makes the holiday sound less like just a birthday celebration.

Don't you think that the word Christmas sounds better than Christbirth? That probably isn't the reason why but that's just what I think.

Happy holidays!

the "mas" in christmas stands for mass. thus the celebration of christmas is the celebration of the mass of christ. which begs the question, if one is a protestant (hence, one does not believe in mass), why celebrate christ's mass?

then again, i am a non-theist, so...

christmas is christ-jesus mas-more { it is more of jesus} also the three wise men brought gifts of frankincense and myrrh and all the precoius gifts for the young child. this is the reason we give gifts for christmas. its in memorey of the first gifts that the baby jesus recieved. but i think stores have commercialized upon it too much.

The word literally means Christ's mass. The actual date of birth of Christ is difficult, if not impossible, to pinpoint. Mass refers to our celebration of his birth.
