Do they? Should they earn more than our teachers who are responsable for teaching this country's children, or police officers, firefighters, and doctors, who all save lives. I don't think so that's why it's so much disparity in this country because will compensate the jobs and people who really don't need that much money instead of the jobs and people who do.

I agree that athletes (and others who don't really do anything) are often paid too much, and people who actually do worthwhile things aren't paid enough.

Not only unfair, but it discourages people from, for example, becoming teachers, and so is counter-productive.

But that's how capitalism (or the form of it we have) works.

Unfortunately.

Do they deserve more money than the folks who our lives depend on? In my opinion, no they don't.

Athletes get paid well because they fill seats, it's about commercialism. What they, the athletes, get paid is a drop in the bucket of what the corporate backers of the teams make in product sales.

If Police, Firefighters and Doctors could find a way to market like sports does, they would have more backers than you could shake a stick at.
