why do punks hate mtv?

sure mtv sucks but what is the reason true punks started hating mtv?

Possibly because it put more emphasis on how the singers and band members looked than how good the music sounded. It idolized and popularized appearance and downplayed the importance of quality music. Also, it made a psuedo-punk lifestyle (basically, suburban kids playing dress-up) fashionable and accessible to teenyboppers and trendsters, which was one of the things that punk had initially rebelled against.
