my partner and I have split up after I had a etpoic pregnancy as i still really want to have a child. I have the means to support myself and the child when it arrives and can work from work when its a little older so wouldnt be living off the state or anything like that. I dont want to go out and get pregnant of some one night stand, so a sperm donor is the choice ive made.

I am sorry about the ectopic pregnancy and the split with your partner. Devastating event to be sure. Wanting a child is a very powerful and natural desire. Just be sure what you are feeling right now isn't being confused with your recent losses.

Sperm donors - such as you are alluding to, are not free. Screening processes must be completed, ie. HIV, race, biographical information, medical history, etc. You must pay for these services, as I am sure you want to know as much as you can about the biological parent of your child.

Being a single parent isn't a glamorous or easy job. It take a lot of work to do it right, and having a partner makes a big difference. A single parent is 'on-call' 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for at least 18 years.

I'm so sorry about your ectopic pregnancy.

Sperm donors will cost money, period. It's not a freebie. They have costs to recover; it's a business. You'll need to save the money and get a medically-screened donation.

There's a problem with getting a nice-guy volunteer, too. Just because you promise him that it's no strings doesn't mean you'll keep the promise.

There have been horror stories with women who asked helpful guy friends to provide "assistance" with getting pregnant, only to find out that they couldn't really afford it and then they ended up filing suit for child support.

Guys, if you ever get this offer...say no thank you.

If you have the means of supporting and raising a child on your own, then you should be able to afford the expenses of sperm donation. Even if you find a friend who is willing to do this for you for free, you will still have to pay for the medical cost of the presedures involved in becoming pregnant through a sperm donation.

go to a bar, get drunk, go home with a guy, there ya go...that's the free way...and also the unsafe way. For the responsible way go to a sperm bank, I've never checked into them, but I'm pretty sure it costs, or instead of getting pregnant why not check in to adoption, there are tons of babies that need good loving homes, most times you can go through an agency and you can even get a woman who is pregnant and such. Like I said as far as I know the only free way is to get drunk and have unprotected sex with a stranger, then ya also get who knows what else.

Seriously, how else do you think it's going to happen? You can't get sperm for free w/o screwing some random person at the bar.

Find someone that you like, then make sure you both get tested for stds. After that, I'm sure the guy will have no problem donating his sperm for free. I think that it wouldn't be too hard for to find someone that's willing as long they aren't financially responsible for the kid.

Hospitals, doctors offices, and sperm banks can give you sperm. They may want to charge, but you could convince them, or ask a friend (WHO IS A GUY).
GOOD LUCK!!!

the only way to get it totally free is to have sex with a guy.
even if he gave you sperm you would have pay fees to the clinic.
or you could get his sperm and try it on your own. it can't be that hard.
