You need to rewash it in Dawn Dishwashing soap. Then squeeze it out with a wash cloth. Then get a blow dryer and blow dry it dry, don't let it dry for hours, mold and mildew sets in and it will smell like a wet dog.

I had the same problem until I went to the drug store and bought a cleaner made for cleaning make-up brushes. I washed them twice in it and then used my shampoo to clean them one last time and that seemed to freshen them up. I also found that cleaning them more often helped. I have very oily skin and my make-up brushes get gross very quickly. I clean my brushes 2 or 3 times a month.

If you have had your make up brushes for a while get rid of them and buy new ones. Wash your brushes with your face wash and let them air dry.

Have you had them for a long time? If you have just throw em out and buy new ones. If there somewhat brand new try washing them with good smelling shampoo. It always seems to work for me.

I wash my brushes at least once a month. Also, if you have had them for a long time, its probably time to replace. them. If you wash them in regular soap, try washing them in shampoo.

they are cheap enough, just replace them.
when you store them make sure it is in a cup with the brush end up in the air.
and if you don 'wash' them, use conditioner, it keeps the bristles soft.
