Open control panel, then Power Options. switch profile from Always ON to Laptop. This will reduce energy consumption significantly. A new battery will last two to three hours; replace when it can't hold charge more than one hour. changing power options will have more impact than buying a new battery. good luck

2 hrs is generally the norm for laptops depending on what you are doing. Try turning the brightness down on your LCD, instead of playing cds try using mp3s, same goes for dvds. If you have wireless or bluetooth and not using them, disable them during your session.

Dell batteries or any laptop are fairly expensive. You might want to try OEM replacements or ebay.

Dell battery is around 50 and above...this means that you probably need a new battery, that this battery is dying. I suggest that you buy a new one because this battery is unreliable.

i have a dell laptop - VERY basic as i'm not very computer literate.
it was $498.00 total - obviously extras would be more.
but my battery only lasts just over one hour.
good luck in ur search!
