was there a black person that ever made an anime and is very known for his or hers art work?

There have been to my knowlege only one anime 'made' or with collaberation with a black person. Since anime is a Japanese made entertainment form so it's generally made by Japanese people. There are collaborations with foreign people and that happens but not very often.

But on the subject Afro Samurai was made by Samuel L Jackson in collaboration with studio Gonzo.

Apparently the show got some awards and was highly praised and should be showing on US TV soon.
