Egypt was very powerful, but didn't have the territory that the Persians had. That's why Alexander attacked the Persians- conquer one king and take over a span of territory that stretched from Egypt al the way to India! China wasn't united until 220's BC, later than Alexander by 100 yrs. Rome was a trade and colonization interest by Greece still, and Northern Europe was dominated by warlords and tribal clans with no regional power. The Americas hadn't yet experienced their boom of the Maya, Aztec, and Incas. Southern and Central Africa may have had a large trading network and even a major superpower, but archaologists are having a hard time finding info about them b/c their cities were built of mud brick, and they left no writing.
