I am attending a formal dance in mid-January and was looking for suggestions on what to wear. I am not sure if I should wear a ball gown or more of a cocktail dress. Also not sure if I should go with classic black or look for a splash of color. Are there any accessories that are really hot right now? What about shoes? I do not want to wear open toes because it is cold. Do I need to wear hose and what color would you recommend? Where would you recommend that I go shopping.
Ideally I am hoping to stand out but not look slutty. I appreciate your advice?

i say a high wasted cocktail dress that tie behind the neck i would go w/ black and the long necklaces are in right now i would where a pair of open toe shoes that are comfortable i would try macys

i think you should u go to maceys it has hella nice dresses..i took my sister there and she got a nice dress for winter and they also have really nice shoes
