Mr Clean Magic Erasers do pretty darn well with those sorts of things. They are around the price range of..hmm.. maybe 6.00 but you get 'bang for buck'. There is 2 in a pack, and they last very very long :)

Fingernail polish remover usually works on permanent inks.
It's acetone with a bit of oil in it,,,works great on hard solid surfaces.
