His favorite snack, like popcorn or a package of nuts, or some packets of cocoa, if that is what he likes.. Gift certificate for a oil change or car detailing, those airplane size bottles of alcohol, if he drinks. A chamois for his car, nice key ring, a box of hankerchiefs, socks, blank CDs or Vcr tapes, if he lilkes to record things, some music CDs from his teen years, or Xmas music from his generation.

Give her all of the information before it happens. This is scary enough when you know it is coming, and much much worse if you don't. If she has a doctor schedual an appointment, and ask a Dr. or nurse to go over things with you guys. This can be really helpful for things like putting in a tampon. Once you leave ask her if she has any other questions. If you think that it would be better to go over things yourself there are a lot of books and even websites you can look at together. You don't have to have all of the answers. Also know that for most girls putting in a tampon is really scary so you might start with pads. Buy the ultra thin, but super absorbant kind with wings. These will be the most comfortable and will keep her clean. Know that not all types are created equal. Let her know that they need to be changed each time she uses the restroom. Another good option is to buy a variety pack now, show her where you put (them under the sink-perhaps) and give her the directions that come with the pack. This way she can help herself when the time comes. Good luck.. you are a brave man.
