If it's severely blocked with scale it can do that and causes a backup so the safety device switches everything else off. Try de-scaling the shower head, inside and out, when pressure returns to normal the shower unit should work fine. If after de-scaling you still have a problem then you might need a new unit altogether, you dont say how old it is. Good luck.

Sounds to me like your head is blocked and the overheat thermal cut-out has operated, or you have a blown fuse or mcb has tripped if not the latter then with the power off remove the cover from the shower, if you are lucky you might have a cut-out with a red reset button on top. You will find this situated on top of the copper boiler sitting in a little recess with a thick wire going onto each end, if it has a red butten then press it down till it clicks, if no button then it will need to be tested for power, if you have an electrical tester, preferably one with a light then with the power on test from the black newtral wire in the terminal block to one side of the cut-out then the other side to be active it should have 240 volts both sides, if only one side live with the power on then you will need to order new one from shower manufacturer

Maybe you ran out of hot water. Turn on the heater for an hour & you can have some more.

Water heater may have went bad. I'd look into that. Either that or a fuse maybe.

Take off the cover and see if there's a reset button which needs re-setting. If there isn't, it's probably knackered and you need a new one.

A bit obvious, perhaps, but have you set the thing to "cold" only?
