Well considering the slang term of "gay" is always used as a negative reference for something, I would say the actual meaning of it is to be offensive towards gay people.

However I have met plenty of people who used "gay" as a slang, and were perfectly fine with gay people.. So I don't think everyone who says it INTENDS it to be harmful towards gay people, or the meaning of being gay. Although I do believe the reason it started was because a person (or people) wanted to be offensive towards gay people..

I don't think so. It all depends on how you use the word. I am gay can be used as I am happy. I am a lesbian and do not allow a lot of things to bother me because it how the person means it. Why is it ok for black to call another black and ***** and not for whites. It's how the whites use the word that bother the blacks. And no I don't mean this is a racist way for the morons that will say I am. Seeing I'm white dating a latina.

Well of course it is, but so what? I mean, out of all of lifes problems, am I going to care if someone starts saying that something is "blatantly gay." Yes, it is derogatory, how could it not be anything else. How many times have you heard "blatantly straight?" Okay, 'nuff said.

I try hard not to say it around the gay community bc saying "Thats gay" is a bad thing, meaning gays are bad though thats not true or the idea behind it,not for me neway but I have a gay brother in law and when we slip and say it,he says"i know what you mean" "Its okay Im a flamin ******". he's got a sense of humor, but still I try to be careful.

It's used as an insult for something, so using it like that makes the assumption that being gay is bad. So, yes it is negative.

Yes.
Using the word to mean something is "bad" is derogatory toward the Gay Community because it implies that they are also "bad".

It is if you are referring to someone (rudely) who is a Homosexual. It isn't if you're saying "This game is gay" if it's hard or something. The reson it's offensive when you are talking about Gays is because it hurts their morale and feelings and makes them feel unwanted. So treat them as equals and with RESPECT, people!

Im 100% gay. I say "Thats so gay!" sometimes because I feel like it relates to me in some way. I dont know how to explain it, but sometimes I can be alittle "anti-gay" sometimes to myself...hmm...good questions, am I wierd?

I asked my sister and sister in-law (together of course) and they said .......they would kind of be offended. They don't understand why somebody would use that phrase if they accept them for being gay and then turn around and use the word negatively.
