the fact that he had an older brother who died really young who was also called vincent van gogh and he had to walk by the grave headstone everyday with that name on it on his way to church where his father preached

Very first thing that pops into my head is that guy cut his own ear off.
Then I think of his Sunflowers and a painting of a cottage. Very moving.
