LOLOL It's just a pretty little bit of fairytale nonsense. You may as well ask what we really think is "down the rabbit hole" and if we tried to get down one, would we find the Queen of Hearts playing Croquet on the lawn using Pink Flamingos as croquet sticks - or the Knave of Hearts dashing out of the bakery with a tray full of steaming tarts Ahh the joys of childhood make-believe. Lewis Carroll knew so well how to take us back there, did he not?
I love make believe. Don't live there, mind you, as many people do. Matter of fact I am very realistic and practical. But in my downtime I can be mentally very creative, and go wherever I want to go. MY rainbow's end is wherever, and whenever I want it to be -- just as long as I never get it confused with real life. Now THAT is the downfall of many people.... they so desperately want their fantasy to be real, that they try to make it be.
I saw a delightful quilt one time, featured in a quilting contest - not the winner but it fascinated me. The theme of the quilt was exactly that "Rainbow's End" Only in the design, as in real life, you can't get there because the end of one Rainbow was concealed by the sweeping arch of another one, and another and so on. I do a little creative quilting myself, but I only have to see the work of experts to know exactly where I rank on that particular totem pole LOL.

Because you can't reach the end of a rainbow (since it's only light hitting water molecules in the air), I actually believe a pot of gold and a tiny leprechaun are at the end.

I believe it just ends and goes into the ground.
There's probably not any pot of gold.

NOT a pot of gold. That's just ridiculous! Who would believe that??

There would be an opening to the fairy realm of course.
