It can and does happen that you may become pregnant while on birth control- the success rate is currently listed at about 98%, this is a statistic and as such must be taken with the understanding that it represents "when taken as directed", which coincidentally you are not. A few guidelines to help better ensure that you do not become pregnant accidentally- take the pill at the same time every day- taking your pill irregularly in terms of morning one day and evening the next can increase the odds of an unwanted pregnancy- if you miss a pill in the second week and have to play catchup (taking two pills one day) always rely on a back up method of birth control. Speak with your health care provider about any and all medications that you take or are prescribed- this includes over the counter medications and herbal supplements and remedies...some can effect you birth controls effectiveness, and your health in general when taken in combination. Also- speak with your health care provider about shortening the period of time that you are taking the placebo's- most doctors agree that occasionally "honeymooning" or rather skipping the inactive pills to delay the occurrence of your menstrual cycle is safe- however doing so regularly may not be so- this can vary according to the type of pills that you are taking as well.

No birth control pills are guaranteed to be 100% effective. Look at it this way, there is a 98% chance that you will not become pregnant if you use the pills as directed. These are very excellent odds whichever way you look at it.

If he's not, then you certainly're certainly utilising the withdrawal technique as a 2d line of secure practices. you really shouldn't take your active pills to make your period shorter. your body need to get rid of everything it needs to. if you take your pills religiously, you really do not have to worry. it would be extremely rare if you were to get pregnant.
