I am 13 years old...will be 14 in a few months...and I haven't gotten my period yet. There is no real reason to this..seeing as I'm not all that athletic. I am super modest and don't want to go to the doctor about this. Is there something wrong? Should I have gotten it already? Help!!

No; not all girls get their period early. It's more genetic than anything; but it's considered "normal" for a girl to get her period as late as age 16. Consider yourself lucky that you don't have to deal with pads and tampons at a super young age. Nothing is wrong with you. If you still haven't menstruated by age 17, you may want to see a doctor then; but that's a long way off for you.

You're not in the "totally alien" category yet - don't worry. Your doctor will most likely ask you about this though - at your next appointment so don't lie about it. His/her job is all about the body - it's not nearly as embarrassing as you think it will be. You should always feel free to bring up anything you're worried about with your doctor....it's a lifelong habit that could save your life someday so start practicing now.

You can start menstruating anywhere form age 9 to age 16. That is normal. You don't need to see your doctor now. Even if you do, I doubt he/she will do anything except to tell you to wait. When you're 16 and still haven't gotten your period, THEN see a doctor. but for now.. you're safe. Enjoy it while it lasts!!

Yes, you should have gotten it already unless you are really like inactive then that can stop your period from coming, but you do need to see a doctor just to make sure nothing is wrong. Don't be embarassed, every woman goes to the doctor and it is really no big deal. They will give you some birth control to make you get your periods and once you start, it will be no big deal.

No, there is nothing wrong with you. I know plenty of people who were or still are late. Including me. According to studies, girls get their periods between ages 9-15. Pretty wide age range. Don't worry, it will come soon.

Good luck! =) LOL

some girls do not get it until 15 or 16, i think around 13/14 is the adverage age,,,,,,,, if all else seems well, you dont feel ill, your a good weight for your height (not too thin or overly heavy) then i would wait,,,,, ask your mom , if possible, when she started hers, as it sometimes can go by trends,,,,, my grandmom and mom didnt start till 15,,, but me and my daughter started at age 11 ,,,,,

You're OK - just let your body "do it" in its own time. My daughter didn't start until she was 161/2 and she was very thankful she didn't have to deal with "it" as early as her friends. They were jealous, too. When it happens you will be dealing with your period once a month for probably 40-50 years. Be patient and be thankful!

theres no real set age of when your period will start. if you want a better idea talk to your mom, grandma, aunts and cousins and see when they started. your periods are somewhat geneitc. and if you feel like your about to start always have some pads or liners with you for a just in case thing.
