My body pH is 5.5, and should be between 7-8 I believe. I have some health issues and think this may be something I need to correct. Does anyone know how long it takes to restore pH to where it should be and the best and fastest method of making it happen?

how did you measure it? ;)

Let me assure you that body PH is not a scientific way of assessing your health. This is a myth perpetuated by quacks and kooks in the "alternative health care" field.

Your blood PH is at or near 7.3 or 7.4 at all times, if it varies much from this, you die because the natural balance of chemical reactions can no longer function.

The proper way to be healthy is to eat right, exercise, get enough sleep and drink enough water. Any money spent beyond that on nutritional or supplemental aid will only make money for the money grubbing naturopaths.

a doctor told you this or some internet dumb *** that pushes homeopathic medicine told you this? im pretty sure youd be dead if your body's pH was actually 5.5.... like the guy above me said your body regulates its pH very very closely, and when it changes slightly you are seriously ill (diabetic ketoacidosis for example, you would be in big trouble if your pH dropped below 7 let alone 5.5).... there is nothing you need to do to alter your body pH. you probably wont be able to do it and if youre successful you would likely kill yourself.

im guessing your probably just measuring your urine pH though... and that really doesnt matter much. youre not going to live 20 years longer because you made your urine more basic... contrary to what naturopathic people trying to make a quick buck and bring down the establishment will tell you. i wouldnt lose too much sleep over it if i were you :)

Well this was nine years ago since it was posted but to assume anyone who deals with natural means as a way to better themselves should most definitely not be nailed as a quack. It is a threat to Western medicine and conventional schools who rob us blind but it is simply a question. There is a lot of information out there and it is most definitely mismatched. My answer is how do you feel? If you are concerned about this, eat more alkaline foods....in other words vegetables and fruits. Most packaged food, meats, dairy etc will be more acidic. Maybe your body does establish its PH on its own but are you making it harder and aging or are you supporting its needs?

If your pH was 7.0, much less 5.5, you would be dead. The pH of your body is measured by drawing arterial blood; you probably had a urinary pH test, and even if that it is probably not accurate. I would find a medical physician you trust to discuss your concerns with instead of an alternative practitioner.
