line a thin line from the center of your pupil out to the tip..alittle on the top if you must...whatever you do don't line all the way across on the bottom...it makes your eyes look smaller (most people don't know that) only half way! this enhances your color and makes your eyes stand out and look bigger...and for alittle trick add short tails going up on the ends it gives your eye a raised look ;-)

I wear eyeliner even to the gym, so I hope I can help a little. The raccoon look stems from putting eyeliner on too think as well as on the bottom lid.
I know you can wear eyeliner on the bottom of the eye, but I don't think it looks good and I read that lining the entire eye makes it look smaller, not bigger.
You are probably using a pencil eyeliner from a drug store, and those can work, but if you can't quite get the hang of it I would recommend a eyeliner pen. These are not liquid, but instead a controlled flow from a thin plastic "pen".
Using your first finger, pull the skin on the side of your eye to the side, making you look Asian. Starting in the corner near your nose, draw as close as you can to the lash line. There should be no skin showing in between the eyeliner and the lash line. Come to the very end of the eye and draw upwards just a little bit.
Once you have the lines drawn, use a q-tip or you finger to slightly blend the eyeliner into the eyeshadow or just into the skin so it won't look too harsh.
Colored eyeliners look nice too, black is a little too harsh if you have light coloring, so blue eyes= brown liner, brown eyes=purple liner, and green or gray eyes= dark blue liners.

Choose an eyeliner appropriate for your eye color. Brown, navy and charcoal accent light eyes well, while brown and plum shades flatter brown eyes. Make sure your liner complements the color of your shadow.
Consider the type of look you're after. Pencil eyeliner gives your eyes soft definition, while liquid versions offer precision and drama. You can also moisten dark eye shadow and apply it with a small, flat brush.
Prepare a cake liner or a dark eye shadow by applying a small amount of water to your brush. Or, if you're using a pencil eyeliner, ensure that you've sharpened the pencil adequately.
Move the wet brush gently through your cake liner or dark shadow. Hold the brush or pencil as you would hold a pen.
Tilt your head back slightly and bring your eyes to a half-open state. This creates a good angle for application, while allowing you to see what you're doing.
Draw a line across the upper lid just above the lashes, from the inside corner to the outside corner of the eye. If you're using liquid liner, allow it to dry before opening your eyes all the way, or the color may transfer into the crease of your eye.
If you used a brush or a pencil, soften the look by gently smudging the line with your brush, a cotton swab or your finger.
Line the lower lids. Moving from the outside edge inward, draw a line on the outer two-thirds of the lid or more, depending on the look you're going for. Your line should be slightly thicker at the outside corner, becoming thinner as it moves in toward your nose. Using your brush or pencil, lightly stroke the area. If using a liquid liner, apply it in one smooth stroke. Apply less color so your eyes don't appear raccoonlike.

For lining the top lid, use your non-dominant hand to pull the skin on the top of your eye taut, and then apply your eyeliner with your dominant hand. It may help to rest your dominant hand against your face as you apply it to help with control and support. It may take you a few attempts to get it right, but practice makes perfect!
For the bottom of you eye, again rest your dominant hand against your face to line, and use your the other hand to help keep the lower lid taut.
2. I use an eyeliner that has a mechanical, twist-up-pencil type tip. I find that these are the easiest to apply!
3. Use short feathery strokes instead of trying to draw one solid line.
4. Keep your eye slightly open. I tilt my head back and look at the mirror with both eyes open. That allows you to get very close to your eyelash line.
5. If you use a pencil or crayon type liner, instead of a liquid one, put the line on and use a cotton bud tip to smooth out the line. This makes it a lot easier and quicker, and you don't have to worry about getting it right first time, it also makes the line subtler.
6. Applying eyeliner half way along the bottom lash line makes your eyes look rounder and more defined. Don't worry too much about a straight neat line; simply smudge the line with a cotton bud or your finger so it's soft and natural looking. Use Kohl pencils for the inner rims.

okay take the pencil liner and go close to your lash line, and go to your inner eye ,where the corner of your eye and make sure your make a very thin ,line and go further to the end of the lash line, but stop half way ,you make it look like it is thicker as you go further and further,if you want liquid liner, you can do what i say next (if you don't even want to think about it you can take the penci lliner and go to the end of lash line. but if you want to try the liquid liner hear is what you must do,: ,take the liquid liner, and make sure it is not that liquid just dap it so you don't have a big lump of liquid on the brush .so take the liquid liner and trace over the the pencil liner and remember the halfway line, well you can pass the half way line and don't make a curve at the end of lash line ,just a stright line it will curve when lifting up.

Be careful not to tug on your eye lid while applying it... over time it's not good for your skin around your eye because it's the thinest part of your skin.
Start with your eye closed, along the top starting from the inside out.
The bottom is optional. Do NOT do the entire bottom line - as said before, it closes your eyes. The bottom should be done from the outside in, and only going halfway.
Good luck! (my favorite by the way is to use eyeshadow and then a eyeliner brush!)

Ok- start with warming the tip between your fingers so it will glide on without pulling your lid. Some people first starting think it's easier to dot the lashline first, all the way across, then go back and connect the dots. Then you guarantee a straight line. Smudge the line a little with your finger. Go over it again if needed. Repeat with the lower lash line, if desired, but it's not always necessary. You can also just line from the middle out. It takes practice, and less it more.

I usually only put it on the bottom eyelid, so here's how I do it:
Keep your mouth open the way you do when you put on mascara, you'll blink less. Make sure the tip of your eyeliner isn't sharp, it'll hurt your eye if it is. Make a line, thin or thick, whatever look you're going for, very close to your lash line.
Now if you're going to put it on the top lid too, you can do it the same, only close your eye and pull at the corner of your eye to make your eyelid more taut, that way the line will be smoother and more even.
After a little bit of practice, your eye liner will be perfect and you can put it on in no time.

Soft, eyeliner pencil; hold lid upwards and apply on top of eyelash hairs, smudge in with q-tip or better get a liner pencil with a little sponge on the end. bottom; make dots about 3/4 way to on bottom of lid, don't smudge to much. Good Luck

Regardless of whether it is pencil or liquid, put mascara on first, this will give a good base for the eye liner, the more you do it the better you willbecome and he more steady your hand will become, seriously though, liquid is better, it won't drag across the eyes. Hope I helped, Rhianna xxx

You pull your lower lid down a bit so you can see what you're doing and then slowly draw along your inner lower lash line. It will get on your eyelashes but that's ok. Try to put it on a little heavier toward the outer corners of your eyes.
It took me a while to finally get it right but it was worth it. You'll get the hang out it. :) Oh I never wear liquid liner. :P
