I don't know if there is a reason to believe that mind-reading does exist, and I say this having just finished reading a booked called Strange Powers of The Human Mind (by Herbie Brennan's) that claims that not just mind reading exists, but other mentally induced phenomenon. The whole book lacked to provide evidence or scientific reasons of how it could all be possible; the book was simply a collection of stories and definitions pertaining to words that describe certain phenomenon and none of the things mentioned in the book I would take as conclusive arguments to support mind-reading or mind powers altogether.

If the stories mentioned in the book are true and authentic, as the author claims, I would be highly inclined to believe that there does exist such a thing. But I'm a little skeptical, and I'm not sure why at all... Maybe I'm avoiding facing the implications that would be brought about by accepting the idea that such a thing exists...

Yes, mind reading does exist; in fact it was experienced in several occasions where two persons were trained to read each other’s mind. the experiment was done by making one of these persons look at a mono colored paper (yellow) and to concentrate on that color till he/she can see the actual color with the eyes closed ,this person now plays as a transmitter ,on the other side the 2nd person (the receiver) try to see the same color his partner sees . And the experiment keeps on by making the transmitter now see more complicated things than a mono color (symbols ,figures ,words ,even pictures) and the person on the other side figures out what his/her partner is thinking of.
This study has been done under standardized conditions and the volunteers were taught how to concentrate fully on a single idea. Many of the volunteers could actually connect to each other by concentrating and some of them built up a talent where they could receive there partner’s thoughts over hundreds of miles. The results came out supporting that our minds have channels of communication other than the classical ones, and all they need is to be trained properly in order to use them.

As the thinking process, or at least it's material representation that takes place in our brains, is just a series of electrochemical reactions, they can be measured. At the moment We don't have means to interpret them, only state if the person is calm or nervous, is sleeping or intensively thinking (or even, by checking other body parameters we can state, if the person has some strong feelings about given matter or not (or hides them well)).

It is still probably possible to correlate brain patterns with more specific ideas and concepts.

Other way, I have heard about is scanning our vocal folds. It occurs, that when we are thinking some phrase, without saying it, our vocal folds still are moving to articulate given sounds. That could be very effective way of "mind reading".

Most people don't really have a clue what's going on in their own minds - so maybe we should stop obsessing about the minds of others.

no, demons can fool you that you are reading someone's mind, but they are just whispering their lies to you.
