Frankly war has little to do with capitalism. War has existed long before capitalism and will afterward.

Materialism is a side effect of the wealth and prosperity that capitalism has brought us. Advertisers have made us think that in order to be happy, we need to have the latest and greatest stuff. I think most people figure out when they are in their 40's that stuff only brings limited happiness.

Only problem with this theory is capitalsm leads to healing and peace. Consider the amount of money Bill Gates is putting toward healthcare and education of children, such things as finding the solution to Malaria and aids. The money for this comes from capitalism. That is bad? And Gates and capitalsim created 5000 millionaires who also give a great deal to the needy. Not to mention the incredible productivity that came from their software to nonprofits who care for the poor and needy. The problem with your theory is that the enormous money given to the Salvation Army and Goodwill, among many other charities, comes from capitalism. You should really go to places like France where capitalism is basically illegal and you will see riots as seen their recently in slums with little capitalism.

Materialism? Well depends what system you want to compare to.
