I'm working on a multi-genre project for my English class, and my topic is "The Effects of the German Occupation on the Netherlands and its People in WWII." One of the required genres is a short story. I've poured through Google results for hours, and haven't had any luck. Any story relating to this topic by a published author meets the criteria -- does anyone have any idea where I could find such a piece of literature?

Of course, despite my topic, I need a story that is in the English language (or at least comes with a translation from Dutch).

Okay, this is not a short story , but it's a kid's book, so it's pretty short. It's called 'Snow Treasure' - it's about the children who helped smuggle Norway's gold out of the country in their sleds. You actually might look for kid's books - try looking under your topic on Amazon. This one was a chapter book, but you might find a picture book with a short story. Also, instead of Goggling, have you tried your public library? (Which you can probably access online?) And Amazon.com? Check to see if either has collections of short stories about the occupation.

Brianj19 tremendously lots hit the nail on th head. The Nazis even bragged approximately "emancipating females from emancipation," and envisioned a suited Aryan female to restrict herself to the classic concerns of "Kuche, Kinder, Kirche" (cooking, babies, and church, besides the very incontrovertible fact that I even have my doubts as to how lots involvement in the 0.33 area became inspired by making use of the Nazis!). To this end, the ladies' application in the Hitler babies concentrated on making them good homemakers. there became, even nonetheless, one profession that became nonetheless open to females, and that became nursing--a traditionally female pursuit--yet marriage (and particularly childbearing) became to be the final objective.
