Christmas. But it's been around for a long time...15th / 16 century. The first letter of the word Christ in Greek is chi, which is identical to our X.
The early printers liked finding shortcuts so used xmas to save time. It's not disrespectful to use the term and I've seen it used on a church newletter advertising a carol concert - again space saving!

Xmas is short for Christmas and is mostly used by people who do not consider that the True meaning of CHRISTMAS is the birth of Jesus Christ. Hence the name CHRISTMAS!!!!
